What a bargain

Hello all.I have not long finished work and i still have very achy legs so we are having a day off from leaflet dropping today.Instead we`ve just been to B&Q as i am going to decorate my kitchen and bedroom next week.We have been having a dilemma with our bedroom as some of it has been plastered so is nice and smooth and the rest of the walls look like a child has plastered it, its really bad and lumpy bumpy. We were debating on using really thick textured paper to cover all the walls but worked it out and it would of cost about 150 quid just for the paper, so we eventually decided to just paint it and hang canvasses to distract from the bad walls. So in we walk to B&Q and my local strore is being  modernised and today they are having huge reductions in the wallpaper department.Oh yes we have just got 14 rolls of lovely thick paper but its already patterened so no paint needed to go over it.Its black and cream which is want i wanted and it cost the grand sum of 14 quid, yep a pound a roll. Also got some white gloss, white paint for the ceilings and textured paint for the kitchen.Roll on Monday now and i can start getting messy with paste and paint.lol.
My blog may be a little on the quiet side over the next 2 weeks (apart from my DT cards) as i will be  doing a craft fair, decorating and dropping leaflets and we are hoping to take jack to altons towers.it`s also going to be our wedding anniversary and my birthday  so those 2 days are no work at all days.lol
Right thats my day so far.Off to drink my cuppa now and catch up with some bloghopping.
Hugs Coops.xxx

Sympathise about the walls - our current home is a cottage built circa 1796 so the walls here are definitely not smooth!!! OH says they've got character - I think they're just lumpy!! Trust me you made a good decision about thick textured paper - it doesn't hide it - whatever the manufacturers claim so you've saved yourself a pile of money!! Over the 25 years I've been here I've tried eveything apart from completely re-plastering - now we've just put it on the market and are hoping someone else likes lumps!!!!!!! Have a great weekend. x

Well done on getting a bargain with the wallpaper. Hope your decorating goes to plan, not like ours, as quick jobs usually turn into long jobs when we (I mean me) decide 'we might as well just do ***** whilst we're at it.'

You can get a tub of stuff to skim it made by polycell or polyvilla cant remember which brand. Its a bit pricey, its saver than scrapping of old dated artex, size the wall 1st with paste I think you add some pva glue to paste solution should be instructions on line somewhere to tell you, that should seal the old artex giving the new stuff something to bond too.
