Confused in my cluttered corner.

Hello all.I hope you are all well ,its blooming freezing tonight.Am going to switch the heating on i think.
So i am here because i have seen so many of you joining up to bloglovin but i don`t think you need to.i have copied this from the blogger forum:

The reading list on your dashboard is based on the feed of the blogs you are reading and their feeds are not going away. If you have items in your reading list on the dashboard that are only there because you added them through GReader and they are not Blogger blogs, they might be removed from the list when GReader goes away but any Blogger blog that is on your Reading List because you used the "following" gadget on another blog to start following it, should remain intact

this was an answer to a lady who had asked if her followers would be going.
followers have only been available between blogger to blogger blogs anyway since last.year.
it looks like it will only affect those blogs you follow through google reader like wordpress or typepad blogs.

for now i am holding fire until closer to the time when hopefully there will be more information.
fingers crossed you will come and visit me still via your dashboard?
Hugs Nic.xxx

the only problem I have with the dashboard is that it doesn't show all the blogs you follow, even if they are blogger. I only found out by chance when a friend asked me why I hadn't popped in in a while a couple of years ago, thats why I started using google reader. I love it...sob sob!!!! lol!!!

Hi Nic

I've had my techno daughter checking into this... she's done quite a bit of research and tells me it won't affect us or how we use blogger. There is some time in the future, plans to change Google Friend connect... but nothing definite yet and I'm sure they'll give us plenty of warning if they do decide to do that.

Hopefully people won't panic too much...

Hugs

I hadn't even heard of Google reader until Bev emailed me. But I did sign the petition to keep it as now I know a lot of bloggers do use it. I hope that it wouldnt change my blog list
Thanks for the info

Thanks Coops - I'm finding it all quite confusing too! I've signed up to Bloglovin - but not sure now that I need too. Oh well ......

I didn't even know there was a problem. I will just wait and see and continue to visit everyone. Elaine

This is similar to what happened last year and someone then tried to get everyone to jump onto a 'linky' bandwagon...which had a pile of companies on it who then had your e mails etc via your profile!!
Blogger isn't as bad as everyone makes out and am sure if people read their 'news' then they'll be kept up to date! Well done to you Nic for trying to stop the mad panic!! x

I'm also going to hang on Nic as I never knew anything about all of this . This was the same with the MR linky widget and we all downloaded it and nothing disappeared from my followers list anyway !
We have a few months if anything is going to happen

Glad you posted this Nic......i was googling it all last night and had decided to hold tight.......I have never used Google Reader......and this morning when I saw that loads of peeps were signing up to Bloglovin I began to panic a wee bit that maybe I was doing the wrong thing!lol

Hi Nic,

Thank you very much for the info.
I decided yesterday that I would sit back and wait to see what happened...it's not that long ago that we heard a similar thing and everyone was adding another way to follow to their blogs, and all for nothing.
I agree that we should wait and see what happens, at least for now.

Big hugs

Hi Nic! I too have stuck a bloglovin widget on my blog, just to give people the option tbh! I've never really had any issues with Blogger, touch wood, but I know others have had blog lists not showing properly, etc! I think it is just a case of wait and see?! Lisa x

Thank you so much for this info Nic, it really is so useful. I am fairly new to blogging so was a bit confused by it all. I wish I had waited before signing up to Bloglovin now, never mind!

That's very good of you, Nic, to find out some info for everyone.

I have to admit to not totally understanding what was going on, but figuring that there was no way something as big as Google was going to leave you without a basic way to see when the blogs you follow update. So I've done nothing - I was going to wait for a bit and see what happened.

I don't use Reader anyway, I just look at the dashboard, so I'm figuring it won't affect me - if it does I'll just do something last minute (that's me anyway - mrs last minute dot com!!).

Thanks for the info, I think alot of blogger's are going through a panick attack~ and I think it's just for nothing too... Thanks for sharing Coops!

Thanks for the information. I signed up so that I would not loose any of my followers blogs but I will continue to use my Dashboard as long as it is there and I think most people will do the same. It was a confusing statement in the first place. Thanks again for clearing it up.

So nice to know the pretty little list of blogs that I follow that appears down the right hand side of my content won't disappear! I do so love that as a way to keep up to date with everyone. I did however put a bloglovin' linky on my site, as I've never been able to find how to do the other! So fingers crossed someone will want to eventually follow my content - LOL! Thanks for clarifying some of the issues hun. Big hugs from 'down under', Wends xxx

Hi Nic,
I know about the "problem" for some time now, as on my Book Blog they girls were already chatting about and most of them changed to Blogconnect...a German version similar to Bloglovin....I have not sined up to any of them yet, as I thought no one from my international Blogger Friends on my Stamping Blog wrote about that change yet. But now the situation has chanched. The first time it was only a rumour then many changed within a day and then someone told it is only to connect to more different Reading lists.....well, I am not really sure what to think about. At the moment I am waiting...and drinking my tea..like you say in german ;)

Thanks for posting this Nic.......i have only ever used my dashboard and wasnt even aware that there were other ways of reading blog posts, so after seeing so many posts about "reader" being retired i did go into panic mode as I didnt want to lose the wondeful blogs that I am following......so I went a signed up to this blogluvin thingybob too.......at least I think I did.....it was getting late in the day, I was feeling a bit weary!!!!! I think now, I shall hold fire on doing anything else with it all and joining you and the others in the "waiting & seeing"

Hi hun! I read so many conflicting reports and statements from Google over the weekend that I thought "what the heck" and signed up for Bloglovin, it can't do any harm and it does give followers another option. Must say though, I do like the daily highlights email they send! Hugs Sxx

Either way I will still visit you :)

Thank you for the explanation Coops. I am still a tad confused about Google's intentions for the future so I signed up to bloglovin' just in case.

So pleased to see this post Coops, thanks for the info.
Think I will wait and see what else is said before jumping in with Bloglovin thing. I have only ever used my dashboard, had not even be aware of Google reader till a couple of days ago.

Hi sweetie, I'm really upset about reader being taken away as I use it daily to catch up with all of the lovely blogs I follow - dashboard doesn't work too well on my iPhone yet reader is the perfect app, I've sighed up to bloglovin and transfered all the blogs i follow over there for that reason only, I am going to pop the button on my sidebar so now everyone has a couple of options to follow and I can either catch up with blogs on my phone through bloglovin in my lunch break or at home thru dashboard on my pc - that's the idea anyway ;-)
Hugs xx Cara xx

Thank goodness for someone with sense :)
I never use reader and therefore wasn't bothered about the change, but hopefully the panic will be over.
Thanks Nic

There are way too many of these hoaxes and blog alarms :(

I ignore all of them.

My basic rule of thumb is - blogger will not remove the main element of blogging - staying in touch with followers and following others blogs.

Else we are all just talking to ourselves ;)
