Good morning all.First day of having no card to share with you.lol.
I will still be trying to hop around your blogs though.anyway we have hit a snag with our bedroom already.last night i helped hubby remove the rest of his stuff (yes HIS stuff) out off the room.Alls that is left is the bed, one empty wardrobe and the TV to keep me company when i start. We had a little tiny patch of wallpaper to remove around the window, so i got out the scraper and as i pulled the paper the lumpy bumpy plaster came with it, if it was a millimeter thick that would be stretching it.Underneath that was whirly swirly artex, again really thinly applied.
Oh thats ok i thought, i`ll just paper over the artex, NOPE thats where the problem is,It looks like the artex has gone off, beacuse its just like white crumbly chalk and it rubs off.So i decided to get the scraper to see how thick it was and underneath the duff artex is the most lovely smooth plaster.Typical eh.I don`t have the time or the inclination to start hacking all the lumpy plaster and artex off but now i don`t know what to do.I know my paper won`t stick because the artex is so crumbly so i`m going to ring the landlord later and see what he thinks.lol.
Wish me luck and no doubt you will be reading more of my ramblings if you want to of course.I am off to work soon and then let the fun begin.
Have a fabulous weekend all :D

Be carefull its not old artex, can be dangerous if inhaled.
Leave hard work to hubby. Hide in craft room :)
Meant to add, your landlord has a responsibility to have it tested (the artex) if it predates certain year it may have asbestoss in it, so look into it before you touch it again, wear a mask if you or hubby goes back to it.
Sounds like you'll be hiring a sander hun! Good luck. Hugs Sxx
Oh Nic, I hate to say this to you hun......but it needs to come off, Artex is a major pain but better off....good luck hun.xxxx
Hi Nic
It looks like hard work, someone tired to cover up the offending artex and now you have the problems.

Morning Nic, you just never know what's lurking underneath do you? A lot of the paint work in our house had nasty brown varnish under it & that was a nightmare to remove. I wish you luck & hope all works out.

Oh Coops, what a pain in the bum, good luck x
Ooooh Nic,good luck with that one.hugs xxx
you can actually use a wallpaper steamer and then the artex scrapes off really easily, we had to do this in our very first house, they had artexed the hallway and staircase. Wear a face mask though, that artex dust can be nasty!
good luck! will be worth it in the end!
